Shillong: Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma and Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will again meet on Saturday to finalize the border agreement for the first six areas of difference shared between the two states.
After chairing a cabinet meeting on Friday, Sangma said, “We have also updated the cabinet on the border issue. We will be meeting the Assam chief minister tomorrow (Saturday) evening at about 4.30 pm – 5 pm in Guwahati”.
“We are hopeful that once the meeting is over we will be able to come to a final conclusion on these first six locations we are trying to resolve,” he added.
On Thursday, Sangma had informed that Meghalaya and Assam governments were waiting for the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to again call for a joint meeting to finalize the border agreement on the six areas of difference shared between the two states.
“He (Shah) has already told us that he would call us towards the end of this month or early next month, we will wait for that,” Sangma said.
He informed that almost 98 per cent agreement has been reached on all the six areas of differences while another two or three per cent is left (for decision).
