IMPHAL: In a boost to employment generation in conflict-hit Manipur, 65 young men and women, including one Internally Displaced Person (IDP) and several youths from remote hill districts such as Kamjong, received appointment letters after completing a professional security training programme conducted by Homeland Security.

The eighth batch certificate and appointment letter distribution ceremony was held at North AOC, Sanjeevani Complex, Imphal, under the Homeland Academy of Tactical Security and Fire Safety, an initiative of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South).

The programme trained unemployed youth from different parts of Manipur in professional security services before placing them in private security jobs. Among the successful candidates was one IDP, while several others came from remote hill districts, including Kamjong, reflecting the programme’s outreach to conflict-affected and underserved areas.

With the latest batch, Homeland Security has now trained and placed more than 700 youths from Manipur, marking a significant milestone in its employment-linked skill development initiative.

Commandant (ADM), 9 Sector Assam Rifles, Prakash Prabhakar, attended the programme as the chief guest and encouraged the trainees to uphold discipline, integrity and professionalism in their careers.

Manipuri actress and Homeland Security Brand Ambassador Bala Hijam also attended the ceremony and congratulated the successful candidates.

Director of Homeland Group Rajkumar Babloo Singh said the initiative is aimed at providing unemployed youth with stable employment and a dignified livelihood.
“Every appointment letter represents hope for a trainee and financial security for a family. Our aim is to create meaningful employment opportunities for the youth of Manipur,” he said.

The ceremony was attended by parents and guardians, who witnessed the trainees receive their first appointment letters.

Homeland Security said it will continue to provide career guidance and placement support to help the candidates transition into professional life.

The organisation said its training includes security skills, physical fitness, first aid, emergency preparedness and workplace discipline, while partnering with security agencies and corporate organisations to generate employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
