Imphal: Two leaders of the Manipur unit of Bharatiya Yuva Morcha (BJYM) were beaten up black and blue by a group of people armed with small guns in Imphal on Thursday night.
Injured Manipur unit BJYM spokesperson Mayanglambam Suresh Kumar and office secretary Alex Ningombam are being treated at Raj Medicity hospital in Imphal with injuries.
The condition of Suresh Kumar is stated to be critical even as Alex is said to be out of danger.
Sources said that they were beaten up by the group of people after overpowered them with guns at Langol near Shija Hospital under Lamphel police station of Imphal West district on Thursday night, around 9.15 pm.

Reports said that the incident occurred when the BJYM spokesperson who stays at a rented house at Langol was going to drop Alex to his house in his car.
The report said that at least four armed miscreants stopped the car at gunpoint at a place at Langol. They dragged Suresh out of the car and beat him up.
Alex was also physically assaulted when he tried to stop the miscreants, reports said.
On receiving the news, a team of Lamphel police rushed to the spot and evacuated them to Raj Medicity hospital for medical treatments.
Suresh sustained injuries on his chest, ears, face, and knees. He has been admitted to the ICU ward of the hospital while Alex is stated to be out of danger, the reports added.
Meanwhile, chief minister N Biren Singh took to social media in condemning the assault on the BJYM leaders strongly. Police teams were sent out to hunt down the armed attackers, he wrote in his Facebook page.
The police also initiated an investigation to establish the identities of the armed miscreants after registering a case against them, the source added.
