Indefinite economic blockade enforced in the whole of Manipur

Senapati: The proposed economic blockade called by joint tribal student bodies including the All Tribal Student Union Manipur, All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM), Kuki Students Organization -GHQ and ATSUM federating units started in Manipur from midnight yesterday.

The economic blockade comes into force after a 24-hour total shutdown in all hill districts of the state.

The blockade was called against the inaction of the state government to table the HAC recommended Manipur (Hill Areas) Autonomous District Councils Bill 2021 where the tribal student bodies had asked the state government to call a special assembly session to table the bill.

More than 100 goods laden trucks including DI were stranded at Mao Gate, Senapati district.
