Imphal, March 1: Aimed at fostering self-reliance and economic empowerment, the Indian Army distributed sewing machines to women in Kanto Sabal Village, Khurkul, Imphal West District on 01 March 2025. This initiative is part of the Army’s ongoing efforts to support local communities by enhancing livelihood opportunities and promoting skill development.

Recognizing the potential of tailoring as a sustainable source of income and livelihood, the distribution of sewing machines aims to empower women by equipping them with essential tools for self-employment. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the women of the Khurkul village who expressed profound gratitude towards the Indian Army for the noble gesture which will help them achieve financial independence and contribute to their families’ well-being.

The initiative aims to empower the women of the society by imparting them resources to earn a sustainable livelihood through tailoring profession and also explore entrepreneurship.
