New Delhi: Indo-Rwandan cultural night, ‘Art for Peace,’ was celebrated in New Delhi on Thursday as part of Rwanda National Day festivities. The evening drew an audience of about 400 guests that included diplomats, civil society representatives, friends of Rwanda, and Rwandan students studying in India.
The event, organized by the High Commission of Rwanda in collaboration with the Chavara Cultural Centre and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, showcased captivating performances of traditional Rwandan songs and dances by a troupe of Rwandan students alongside Indian songs performed by Indian artists. These performances offered a vibrant showcase of the rich cultural heritage of both countries.

Fr Roby Kannanchira, Director of the Chavara Cultural Centre, reflected on the enduring spirit of peace that characterises both Rwanda and India, praising the role of culture in advancing mutual understanding and reconciliation.
Rwanda High Commissioner Jacqueline Mukangira emphasised the cultural richness of both countries, underlining culture’s role in fostering social cohesion.
Ambassador Reuben Gauci of Malta called for global promotion of a culture of peace through artistic and cultural exchanges.
The evening concluded with a renewed commitment to strengthening people-to-people ties and promoting peace through cultural diplomacy.
