SENAPATI/UKHRUL: A 49-year-old Naga civilian who was injured in the Kailengjang shooting in Senapati district on Saturday succumbed to his injuries early Sunday, taking the death toll in the incident to three.
Ashiho Sani of Shajouba village died at around 3 am on Sunday at a private hospital.
The incident, which took place at Kailengjang on Saturday afternoon, had initially left two Naga civilians dead and two others injured. The deceased were identified as K. Rocky Osanah of Chowainamai Khullen and Kh. Kumar of Laii Shirafii, who died on the spot. The second injured victim, Adani Manio, 33, of Makhel, was also taken to GetWell Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were shifted to Senapati District Hospital following the incident.
Following the death of Ashiho Sani, a condolence service was held at Traffic Point, Senapati, at 11 am on Sunday in honour of the three Naga victims.

A large number of people gathered at the venue to pay their last respects to the victims.
Condolences messages were delivered by All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM) president, Naga People Organization (NPO) vice-president Adakho, Senapati District Women Association (SDWA) vice-president Loliro, Maram Thangal Region Secretary Raigi, and Naga Youth Senapati representative Paul Chawang.
The remains of the three victims are expected to be taken to their respective villages for burial following the condolence service.
With the death of Ashiho Sani, the number of Naga civilians killed in the ongoing Naga–Kuki conflict has risen further, with Naga organisations and local sources putting the toll at 26 till date. The figure includes victims killed in a series of attacks across Naga-inhabited areas in Manipur hills since the conflict escalated.
