TAMENGLONG: Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Tamenglong District Branch will be launched soon following the activation of the branch on Friday, official sources said. As per the sources, the IRCS, Tamenglong District Branch will be launched formally in the last week of March, 2026.
The IRCS, Tamenglong District Branch was reportedly activated by Tamenglong Deputy Commissioner L Angshim Dangshawa, who is also an ex-officio president of IRCS, during its 1st Annual General Meeting on Friday.Â

During the meeting, the deputy commissioner welcomed all the members present and highlighted briefly about the objectives and the need of having active IRCS in the district. The DC also mentioned that 21 people from the district have registered as Life Members in the past. However, the District Branch Managing Committee was never constituted and therefore is also the execution of various activities. He further informed that three Life Members have unfortunately passed away. A 1-minute silence was observed as a sign of respect and acknowledgement of their contribution for the cause.
The Tamenglong District Managing Committee was on Friday constituted with Dr Chambo Gonmei (Retd) as chairman, Charles Liangdiang as vice chairman and KC Huduan as honorary treasurer of the committee along with 10 other members. Further, Nehemiah Panmei has been appointed as secretary of the Executive Committee, and Akinsin Gangmei as youth coordinator. For the post of vice president, all the members agreed upon Gaigongdin Panmei, IRS (Retd) to take up the responsibility.

The Tamenglong District Branch Committee was constituted with nine more members, including K Acham Rongmei, Ramkung Pamei, Silas Panmei, Wingouliu Kahmei, Chunthuingam Dangmei, Jessy Gonmei, Lazarus Pamei, Chunthuingam Panmei, and Kadanlung Gonmei.
As per the sources, 20 new life members were enrolled on the day of meeting.
The president also handed over certificates for five Life Members who were enrolled in the past, the sources added.
