Ukhrul, April 23: Following the alleged burning down of houses in Gampal and Halyang villages under the Sahamphung Sub-Division of Kamjong District, the District Magistrate has issued a prohibitory order in the entire village jurisdiction of the villages, citing a significant risk of law and order issues. The houses were allegedly set on fire by ‘unknown miscreants’ at approximately 9:00 AM today.

The order, issued under Section 1 of Section 163 of the BNSS, 2023, by District Magistrate Rangnamei Rang Peter, prohibits individuals from leaving their residences or engaging in any activities that may disrupt law and order in the designated area. This restriction is effective from 2:00 PM on April 23, 2025, until further notice.

However, this order does not apply to government agencies tasked with maintaining law and order and providing essential services. In extraordinary circumstances, individuals seeking to organize a procession for occasions such as marriage, funerals, or other celebrations within the designated area must obtain written permission from the undersigned or the Superintendent of Police, Kamjong District. No such procession is permitted to begin until the relevant authorities grant written authorization.

Additionally, Hungyo Yurreikan, SDC/Sahamphung, has been appointed as the Executive Magistrate for the entire village jurisdictions of Gampal and Halyang.
