UKHRUL: Suspected Kuki miscreants were caught on CCTV footage pouring diesel on home walls in Daili village, Kangpokpi District.

According to the Daili village authority, some unidentified Kuki individuals arrived in a Mahindra Bolero and halted at the village along the National Highway on April 24 at around 10:00 PM. The individuals were then seen pouring diesel on the walls of a home located adjacent to the highway in a deliberate attempt to set the property ablaze.

Condemning the incident, which it describes as reprehensible and a criminal act, the Daili village authority stated that the brazen act of arson was not only a direct attack on private property but also a calculated attempt to disrupt and vitiate the long-standing peaceful and harmonious atmosphere of our village.

“Daili Village has always stood as a symbol of unity and coexistence, exemplified by institutions such as St Francis De Sales Higher Secondary School, which serves students of all ethnicities, and the local Church, which welcomes and houses members from all communities without discrimination,” it further stated.

The village authority also emphasized that such acts of violence and intimidation strike at the very fabric of shared values of peace, tolerance, and communal harmony. Also, it denounces any attempt to sow fear, division, or unrest among the people.

The Village Council stands united in its resolve to uphold peace, protect its residents, and resist any forces that seek to disturb the harmony of our community, it asserted.
