UKHRUL, April 25: Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) on Saturday expressed concern over reported militant activities in parts of Ukhrul district, alleging the presence of Meitei group Arambai Tenggol members along with Tangkhul militant elements.
In a press release, KIM claimed that over 50 Arambai Tenggol cadres are stationed at Sikingbung and are operating in coordination with Tangkhul militants.

The statement further alleged that several locations in the district — including Sareikhong, T.M. Kasom, Leingangching, Sikingbung and Thoyee — are being used for such activities. It also referred to the continued operation of a Tangkhul militant camp, allegedly linked to NSCN, and questioned the lack of enforcement action.
KIM also claimed that it has received inputs suggesting a possible leak of sensitive information by a senior police officer regarding vulnerable Kuki villages. It said the allegation, if proven, would amount to a serious breach of duty.
Stating that the situation points to a worsening security environment, the organisation urged the Government of India to dismantle militant camps, remove armed groups, and initiate an independent inquiry into the alleged intelligence leak.
It also called for measures to ensure the safety of civilians in vulnerable areas.

On the other hand, the Arambai Tenggol (AT) has denied the allegation made by Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) that its members are present in Ukhrul district.
Arambai Tenggol refuting KIM on Saturday said the claim that over 50 of its cadres are stationed at Sikingbung in coordination with Tangkhul groups is “baseless” and not true.
It said the allegation does not reflect the situation on the ground and accused KIM of spreading misinformation.
The AT statement also referred to the prevailing situation since the 2023 crisis, claiming that movement across certain areas remains restricted, and said the allegation of its presence in Ukhrul does not hold.

Arambai Tenggol maintained that the claims are fabricated and aimed at creating confusion, and rejected any suggestion of coordinated activity in the district.
