UKHRUL: The apex Naga civil organizations in Manipur, including the United Naga Council (UNC) and the All Naga Students’ Association Manipur (ANSAM), have expressed their condolences for the passing of Naga Village Guard Horshokmi Jamang. He was reportedly killed in a confrontation with Kuki armed groups near Mullam and Sinakeithei villages on Friday.
In a condolence message, the UNC Working Committee shared in the pain of the bereaved family and reiterated the supreme sacrifice that Horshokmi Jamang made for the nation. “The Naga people have lost a true son of the soil. We mourn the loss of a brave soul who gave his all for our land and people. The bloodshed for the nation will forever remain etched in the minds of every Naga,” the committee stated.

The UNC condemned the cold-blooded murder of Jamang by Kuki terrorists, describing it as an outrageous act of aggression against their land. “The murderers, who operate under the patronage of Kuki militants as part of the SoO pact with the Indian Government, may have succeeded in ending a life, but such actions will never allow them to fulfill their wild dreams of claiming what does not belong to them,” the statement added.
“Naga people pay their highest respect and homage to those who served the land and its people wholeheartedly. May his sacrifices continue to inspire us all,” the committee prayed for the departed soul.
Similarly, ANSAM mourned the martyrdom of Jamang, stating that he perished in the line of duty while defending Naga ancestral land and its people. The organization alleged that he was mercilessly ambushed by armed Kuki SoO cadres and other unlawful Kuki militant elements near Sinakeithei. They noted that such repeated aggression, intimidation, and unlawful incursions continue to endanger peace and violate the sanctity of Naga territories.
