Ukhrul: The Katho Katamnao Long XXIV General conference cum sports meet 2022 began today. The six-day event is hosted by THYSO under the theme “Building Inclusivity”.
Chief guest, Dr Yaronsho Ngalung, Caretaker Chairman ADC Ukhrul spoke on the inclusivity of Katho and emphasis on not excluding any of the affiliated units since its inception. He expects to witness inclusive and equality in sports event in the coming years.
While, guest of honor, Yangmi Khapai, intending candidate, ADC stressed on bringing oneness and unity through this event.
Yursem Varam, president Katho Katamnao Long lamented the climate crisis and the mounting pressure, which he said has spoiled the joy of Katho Sports. Climate change is already having a disproportionate effect on people living in lower-income community/class, where majority of young people live. “Education is about learning to make better decisions,’ Yursem Varam asserted, as he wished the participating units to do well.
The opening ceremony today was attended by Village Authority, LHPO, WHUSA, THYSO, DPO, former KKL leaders. The event is supported by Samadon Maruti.
Meanwhile, talents like Angeli Shokchui and Lanlan Huileng enthralled the crowd with their performance.
15 Units are taking part in six-day General conference cum sports event which include competition in football, volleyball, extempore speech, quiz, debates, folk songs and dances etc.
