Kohima cracks down on ILP violations: 495 defaulters penalized

Kohima: A total of 495 Inner Line Permit (ILP) defaulters were detected within Kohima district in the past two days, an official statement said.

A verification drive was carried out all over Kohima district from March 6 to 8 by a Task Force team consisting of the district administration and police to detect illegal immigrants, Inner Line Permit (ILP) defaulters.

During the verification, cases of expired ILP permit and non-possession of ILP permit were detected and accordingly penalties were imposed as per section (2), (3) and (4) of the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation (BEFR) 1873.

A total of 495 ILP defaulters were detected within Kohima district, out of which 308 were detected from Kohima area, 59 from Chiephobozou sub-division and 128 from Sechù Zubza subdivision. A total amount of Rs. 2,15,400 (Two lakh fifteen thousand four hundred) was realized as a penalty and has been deposited as government revenue.

The Task Force constituted will be conducting periodic checking for detection of illegal immigrants and ILP defaulters within Kohima district.
