Ukhrul: Following recent claims made by Manipur Police regarding the arrest of two Koireng-led UNLF cadres by 35 Assam Rifles, the proscribed Koireng-led UNLF Central Committee has issued a press note denying the allegations and alleging conspiracy.

M. Sakhen, Secretary of Publicity for the Koireng-led UNLF Central Committee, stated in the press note that the police’s assertion about the apprehension of the two cadres, Huidrom Jitanjit and Ningthem Oinam, along with cash, bullets, a walkie-talkie set, and suspected heroin powder, is false. The note accuses the Assam Rifles and Manipur Police of conspiring to damage the reputation of the Koireng-led UNLF.

According to M. Sakhen, the two cadres left the base camp due to medical reasons and were carrying only their mobile phones and a small amount of money for travel expenses. The press note further alleges that Manipur Police and Assam Rifles fabricated reports of ammunition and drugs seizure to incriminate the two cadres.
