UKHRUL/SENAPATI: A resident of Konsakhul Naga Village sustained serious injuries in an alleged ambush on Saturday morning, with villagers accusing armed cadres of the Kuki National Front-P (KNF-P) and individuals from neighbouring Leilon Vaiphei (Kuki) village of carrying out the attack.

According to information provided by residents of Konsakhul, the incident occurred at around 11:00 AM when four youths went to inspect and restore a water supply line that had reportedly been blocked, disrupting the village’s access to water.

Villagers alleged that tensions had been building in recent days following suspected attempts to contaminate the village’s water source. Konsakhul Naga Villagers claimed they became suspicious after noticing unusual conditions at the source and subsequently alerted fellow villagers. They further alleged that the water supply was later deliberately blocked, cutting off access to an essential resource.

On Sunday morning, four youths reportedly proceeded to the water source to investigate the disruption and unblock the supply line. While carrying out the inspection, they were allegedly ambushed by armed individuals. One of the youths sustained serious injuries during the incident, villagers said.

Residents described the attack as an unprovoked act of violence against civilians and expressed concern over the growing sense of fear and insecurity in the area.

“The deliberate disruption of an essential water supply and the subsequent attack on villagers have caused considerable distress among the community,” a village source told Ukhrul Times.

The allegations made by the Konsakhul Naga villagers could not be independently verified at the time of publication, and no statement from the KNF(P), Leilon Vaiphei village authorities, or security agencies was immediately available.

Villagers have appealed to the concerned authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, ensure the safety of residents, restore the water supply, and take appropriate action against those found responsible.

Further details are awaited.
