Kuki Students’ Org Lifts Restriction, Announces new Understanding

Ukhrul, Dec 27: Following an understanding between various stakeholders of Senapati and Kangpokpi, the Kuki Students’ Organisation-Sadar Hills (KSO-SH) has lifted its previous directive issued to the Kuki community. The student body had earlier directed all Kukis to leave the Senapati district immediately citing safety and security concerns.

In an official statement, the KSO-SH stated that it was pleased to announce that an understanding was reached between various stakeholders from the Senapati and Kangpokpi districts in a meeting at the NPO office in Senapati. The agreement ensured that there would be no further restrictions on movement and travel within the Senapati district, it said.

In light of this development, the KSO-SH said, the student community and members are now safe to travel in and around Senapati.

The KSO-SH also applauded the peace-building measures undertaken by members of both districts and hoped that they would usher in a long-term understanding and cooperation between the parties.
