UKHRUL: The Kuki Women Union (KWU) has strongly denied reports linking an arrested individual, Nemneilhing Haokip, to the Union.

On Thursday, security forces intercepted two vehicles at the T Khullen Naka checkpoint in Senapati and arrested three persons. They were identified as K. Dovile (42) of Laii Village, Senapati; Nemneilhing Haokip (42) of Saikul Bazar; and her husband, Hengkhomang Haokip (47).

Security personnel recovered 99 soap cases containing suspected brown sugar weighing 1.140 kg, two four-wheeler vehicles — a Bolero (NL07C-5762) and a Maruti Swift (AS04E-3344) — Rs 30,300 in cash, and four mobile phones.

Following the arrests, allegations surfaced claiming that Nemneilhing Haokip held the position of General Secretary of the KWU. In response, the Union stated, “Any claims identifying Nemneilhing Haokip as the General Secretary of KWU or any of its branches are unauthorized and false. The KWU does not have a General Secretary by this name, and we urge the public to disregard such statements.”

The KWU has also demanded an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding her arrest and urged the authorities to verify her identity and affiliations before taking further action.
