Landslide on NH-37 Manipur: disturbs traffic for some hours

IMPHAL: Normal vehicular movement along the Imphal-Jiribam road (NH-37) was disrupted for a few hours on Friday due to a massive landslide at Kotlen.

Reports said that the road was totally blocked by sliding rocks around 11 am, forcing all kinds of vehicles moving on the highway to stop on both sides.

The rocks and mud were, however, cleared by a team of National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corp Ltd (NHIDCL) who swung into action immediately. The team was assisted by police personnel of New Keithelmanbi police station.

With the clearance of the debris that blocked the road, normal traffic resumed around 4 in the evening, the report said. 

The debris was cleared only to allow the stranded vehicles and works to completely clear the debris was going on till late in the evening, the report also said.
