Manipur: 3 Meitei Pangals thrashed after kidnap by unidentified armed miscreants

Bishnupur: At least three persons from Kwakta village in Bishnupur district were reportedly abducted and beaten black and blue by some unknown armed men on Monday evening.

The three victims, all Meitei Pangals, were released only on Tuesday afternoon after reportedly looting them with an amount of around Rs 11 lakh, said a source.

The victims identified as Md Amir (37), Md Abdul Satar (38) and Md Shakir Ahmed (39) are from Kwakta village in Moirang, Bishnupur district. 

As informed by a source, the incident happened at around 8 pm near Ningthoukhong under Moirang police station when the three victims, all businessmen, were coming back from Lilong. Some unidentified armed men stopped their vehicle and abducted them with no reason unknown. Later, they were brutally thrashed by the armed miscreants, it said.

The three victims have been admitted to a clinic in Imphal for further treatment. 

Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged at Phougakchao Ikhai police station in connection with the case, added the source.
