Manipur: 73 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases detected on Tuesday

UT News Service | IMPHAL, Aug 11: Manipur reported yet another COVID-19 related fatality amid the surging number of fresh cases of the disease on Tuesday.

A 60-year-old man from Nongmeibung of Imphal East district died at JNIMS hospital, Imphal on Tuesday morning due to COVID-19 related illness. This development took the tally of COVID-19 related deaths in Manipur to 12.

Hospital sources said that he was also suffering from various chronic diseases including diabetes and kidney disease.

While confirming the death due to pandemic, a report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room said that he had comorbid health conditions.

Meanwhile, the number of COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 3,941 on Tuesday as 88 new cases were confirmed during the testing of 995 samples in the last 24 hours.

Of the 88 new cases, 13 are personnel of the Central security forces while 75 from the general population which included 73 locals with no significant travel history.
