Manipur ADC ex-members take issues to New Delhi

Imphal: Continuing to campaign to address their grievances, ex-members of Autonomous District Council (ADCs) of Manipur took the issues to New Delhi and apprised the central leaders. The ex-ADC members returned to Manipur from New Delhi only yesterday.

The ex-ADC members went to Delhi in connection with the “functioning of ADCs of Manipur including non-holding of ADC elections” after the lapse of the latest term in November, 2020.

A four-member delegation of Ex-ADC Members’ Forum, Manipur, met several central leaders including the Union Home minister. A statement issued by RS.Ngaranchui, convenor of Ex-ADC Members’ Forum, Manipur, and Thangkam Lupheng, secretary, Ex-ADC Members’ Forum, Manipur, said they also submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister on December 22.

The team of ex-ADC menbers comprised of R.S.Ngaranchui, convenor, Thangkam Lupheng, secretary, Dr.Yaronsho Ngalung, former chairman of Ukhrul ADC and Namsinrei Panmei, former chairman of Tamenglong ADC who went to Delhi to apprise the central leaders of the grievances and issues related with the 6 ADCs of Manipur.

On December 22, the team submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister. The team then met Arjun Munda, Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Girijaj Singh, Union Minister for Panchayati Raj, Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister for Law & Justice apprising them of the grievances being faced by the ADCs of Manipur and handed over a copy each of the memorandum the Union Ministers. “The team had a fruitful and positive time with all the Union ministers,” the statement also said.

The team also met Amit Shah, Union Home Minister. “The Union Home minister gave a very positive response to issues being raised by the delegation in connection with the  functioning of ADCs of Manipur including non-holding of ADC elections after the lapse of the latest term in November, 2020,” the statement also said, “adding, “The meetings with the Union ministers were facilitated and arranged by  Dr.Lorho S.Foze , Lok Sabha MP from Outer Parliamentary constituency of Manipur.”
