According to a statement issued by the Information & Publicity Wing, AZSU-AMN, the two teams have cleared all landslide portions from Tousem headquarters to Kaiphundai. “The two lifelines of the Tousem area- Tousem via Tamenglong and Tousem via Kaiphundai roads- were completely cut off due to landslides and blockage of bridges and roads in many places following heavy rain. Sensing the grim difficulties and helpless condition of the public, the AZSU reached out to Krishna Construction Company (KCC) for road clearance. The AZSU and KCC teams had repaired the landslide portions from Old Mandeu to New Kaiphundai village. It took 29 hours of non-stop work to clear the blockades. About 20 portions of landslides were cleared,” the AZSU-AMN stated, while adding that the road connecting Tousem to Tamenglong still remains closed due to landslides in many places. The students body appealed to the district administrator and concerned authorities to clear the road as early as possible.

It further stated that the AZSU team and the public of Tousem area extend heartfelt gratitude to KCC (Package-6) working in Tamenglong via Haflong road for their quick response to the call of social responsibility. The AZSU team also extends its sincere thanks to Tenyson Gangmei, Chairman of Kaiphundai, Jonathan Gangmei, a social worker and James Inkah, former president of All Inpui Students’ Union, for arranging food in different locations.
