Manipur Flood and Landslide Update: Over 1.65 Lakh Affected, Relief Efforts Intensify

Imphal, June 6: As of 5:30 PM June 6, the Manipur State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) reported that 708 localities and villages have been affected by ongoing floods and landslides across the state, with a total of 1,65,943 people impacted.

According to the Daily Situation Report, four human lives have been lost, including three in the past 24 hours. The total number of damaged houses has reached 35,429, while 74 animal deaths have been recorded. So far, 4,147 persons have been evacuated and are being sheltered in 78 active relief camps out of the 82 designated.

The report further notes that 162.65 hectares of crop land have been damaged and 76 cases of infrastructure damage have been confirmed. The number of landslide incidents has also risen to 169.

Relief and rescue operations continue with the deployment of NDRF, SDRF, State Police, Fire Services, and other central agencies. Boats have been mobilized to reach inundated areas. Relief materials are being distributed, and medical relief camps have been organized for the affected.

The state remains on high alert with dry to light rainfall reported on Friday, offering some respite to flood-hit regions. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and appeal for public cooperation.
