Senapati, August 29: Acknowledging the active participation of the Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati District Branch in humanitarian services, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla flagged off an Ambulance/Mortuary Van at Raj Bhawan, Imphal in the presence of the district Red Cross members and handed over to the district branch on Thursday.
It may be mentioned that the Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati Branch has been extending humanity services for the people of the district on different occasions. The IRCS, Senapati district branch had earlier extended maximum humanitarian services during the COVID-19 pandemic. The volunteers of the IRCS, district branch were the first responders to any eventuality that was taking place, including any natural calamities.

The district branch also had extended maximum humanitarian services during the ethnic violence in the state by visiting and distributing relief materials to internally displaced persons at different relief centres. The society also has been distributing various essential commodities to the old aged and underprivileged sections of the society by distributing blankets, kitchen utensils, hygiene kits, tarpaulin, among others.
While it was their long cherished dream of the district branch to procure an ambulance/mortuary van, sources from the Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati district branch mentioned that their dream has become a reality.
The IRCS, Senapati branch assured to continue to its work and render their services for the welfare of the people with utmost dedication and sincerity and to continue to uplift and uphold the shining motto: “Through humanity to peace” in consonant with the seven fundamental principles of the Red Cross which is Humanity, impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Voluntary services, Universality and Unity. Based on these seven fundamental principles, the branch committed to continue to discharge their duties and responsibilities diligently in the future.

Further, the Indian Red Cross Society, Senapati district branch extended its sincere gratitude to the Governor of Manipur and president IRCS, Manipur State, Ajay Kumar Bhalla for his yeomen services rendered towards the betterment of the district branch by donating an Ambulance/Mortuary Van in the service of humanity.
Moreover, the members, during the meeting with the Governor, also shared and briefed about the importance of completing the blood bank in the district hospital at the earliest to which the Governor has assured and instructed the state Health secretary to expedite the process who was also present during the flag off ceremony.
The IRCS, Senapati branch appealed to the people to avail its ambulance/mortuary van service.
