Imphal: The Department of Information & Public Relations, Government of Manipur, today conducted a media inspection and visited various sites where the “fabricated shelter houses” are being constructed in different parts of valley districts. Similar temporary “shelter houses” will also be constructed in the hill districts also, according to an official report.

The houses are being constructed at 44-Yaithibi Khunou for Thoubal district, Sajiwa for Imphal East district and Kwakta for Bishnupur district.

Replying to the queries of the media persons, Superintendent Engineer, Manipur Police Housing Corporation Ltd, P. Brojendro Singh said about 3000 houses will be constructed in different locations of Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts. Around two hundred families will be accommodated in each site. He said that the construction of these fabricated houses is expected to be finished by the mid of August. The construction was started in the late June and early July for different locations.
The official then said toilets will be attached to each room. Water will be supplied through pipes and for drinking purposes, plastic water tanks will be installed. For domestic use of water, ponds will be dug in each site. Regarding the supply of electricity, a transformer will be installed at each site, he added.
