Senapati: Home Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Government of Manipur, N. Ashok Kumar had written an invitation to the President of the United Naga Council (UNC), Ng. Lorho to attend a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India on August 3 (Monday).

The letter stated that the Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Home, Govt of Manipur has been directed to invite the UNC president and his colleagues to discuss the prevailing law and order situation in Manipur and matters relating to peace restoration, security and normalcy in the State. The meeting is scheduled to be held on Monday, the 3rd August, 2026 at 3:00 PM in the Conference Hall, Old Secretariat Building (South Block), Babupara, Imphal.
However, in a reply from the United Naga Council (UNC) addressed to the Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Home, Govt of Manipur, it stated for deferment of the meeting with the representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, scheduled for 3rd August 2026, mentioning the day coincides with the Observance of the Framework Agreement and requesting a change of venue.

The UNC office regretted that it would not be able to attend the scheduled meeting. Further, UNC stated that it is not convenient for the representatives to travel to Imphal due to the prevailing situation. In view of the above, Vareiyo Shatsang, General Secretary, UNC, requested that the venue of the meeting be fixed at Senapati District Headquarters, Tamamzam, on a date preferably after 3rd August 2026.
