Manipur Guv Anusuiya Uikey visits stranded people, instructs to form Peace Committee

Imphal: Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey has instructed Manipur Chief Secretary, Vineet Joshi and relevant officials to form State Level Peaceful Committee to restore peace and harmony in Manipur.

Vineet Joshi, a 1992 Manipur cadre IAS officer replaced Dr Rajesh Kumar as the new Chief Secretary on March 7.

The Governor on Wednesday visited relief camps at Khuman Lampak, Imphal and interacted with stranded people, victims of the ethnic violence evacuated from Churachandpur and Moreh.

Governor Anusuiya Uikey patiently listened to the grievances of the victims and comforted them.

She also visited CRPF camp in Lamphel on Wednesday.

In another news, sources informed that around 255 stranded Meitei/Meetei labourers taking shelter at Assam Rifles and Ukhrul Police relief camps were evacuated to Imphal on Wednesday under the initiative of 35 Assam Rifles and Ukhrul Police.

Thokchom Lokeshwar Singh, MLA of Khundrakpam Assembly Constituency provided two buses for ferrying the labourers from Ukhrul to Imphal, sources said.
