Manipur reports three more COVID-19 deaths

Newmai News Network | IMPHAL, July 30: With three more COVID-19 related deaths reported in Manipur on Thursday, the number of people who died in the COVID-19 related deaths rose to four.

Official sources said that two ailing persons who were admitted at RIMS Covid care facility after they were tested positive for the virus died on Thursday. Another patient at JNIMS hospital who was also found positive for the virus while being treated at the hospital also succumbed on Thursday.

COVID-19 Common Control Room said that three male adults aged 48, 47 and 60 respectively from Leimakhong of Kangpokpi district, Langol of Imphal West and Moijing of Thoubal districts died at RIMS and JNIMS hospitals. They expired due to co-morbid health conditions and COVID-19. With these three death cases, the COVID-19 related deaths in Manipur rose to four.

A 46-year-old ailing man suffering from chronic diseases who contracted the virus while being treated at RIMS hospital had died on Wednesday to become the first COVID-19 related death in the state.

Meanwhile, total COVID-19 cases in Manipur rose to 2,505 after 47 new cases were detected in the last 24 hours, official reports said. The new cases were detected during the testing of 783 samples.

With this update, the state has 829 active cases of COVID-19 after 19 persons were discharged on Thursday, taking the total recovered cases to 1672.

The recovery rate is at 66.90 percent in the state , the COVID-19 Common Control Room said.
