COVID-19 death in Manipur now Five

UT News Service | Imphal, July 31: Official sources said that an ailing person who was admitted at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) Covid care facility on July 29, a 38-year-old patient from Lilong Khunou died Friday early morning the hospital authority said.

The total death toll recorded in the state from Wednesday, the first COVID-19 death in the state of Manipur, has now climbed to Five on Friday.

State Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu who is the chairperson of the State Executive Committee of the State Disaster Management Authority issued an order regarding the extension of the total lockdown in the state on Thursday till August 6, following the rising number of COVID-19 infections of locally transmitted cases in some districts of the state.

To enforce the complete lockdown, magistrates of each district have also promulgated indefinite curfew restricting people from moving out of their respective homes under sub-section 2 of section 144 of CrPC.
