Imphal: Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh allocated portfolios to the recently inducted six cabinet ministers today.
The Governor, on the advice of the chief minister, allocated the portfolios to the new ministers, said a notification issued by the chief secretary.
While allocating the portfolios, the chief minister removed the Education department from Y Khemchand Singh and allocated the same to Thounaojam Basanta Singh. He also got the additional portfolio of the Law and Legislative Affairs department.
After removing the Education department, Khemchand is now the minister in-charge of Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development (MAHUD) and Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.
Letpao Haokip got the portfolios of Tribal Affairs and Hills department and Horticulture and Soil Conservation department while Dr Sapam Ranjan is the minister in-charge of Medical, Health and Family Welfare department and Publicity and Information department.
Public Health Engineering department (PHED) and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution department went to Leishangthem Susindro Meitei (Yaima).

Heikham Dingo Singh got the portfolios of the Social Welfare department with additional charge of Skill, Labour, Employment and Entrepreneurship department and Fisheries department.
Kashim Vashum is the minister for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary department and Transport department.
The allocation of the portfolios to the six cabinet ministers came 13 days after they were inducted into the council of ministers of N Biren led BJP government which was formed on March 21 last.
Biren took oath as chief minister of the state for the second consecutive term on March 21 last. On the same day five MLAs –four from BJP and one from NPF were also sworn in as cabinet ministers.
