Manipur violence: 32 Myanmar Nationals detained by Security Forces in Moreh

Moreh: At least 32 Myanmar nationals have been detained by Security forces in Indo-Myanmar border town Moreh in Tengnoupal District. Out of the 44 Kuki individuals who were detained by security forces in Moreh town during an extensive combing operations on Wednesday morning, 32 were found to be Myanmar nationals.

The operations were launched following the cold-blooded killing of SDPO Chingtham Anandakumar, suspected to be carried out by Kuki militants.

Reinforcement teams of state security forces dispatched from Pallel arrived in Moreh town on Wednesday morning to assist with the combing operations. The teams were led by Thoubal Additional SP Operation Wangkhomba and Special Commando Unit OC Vivekananda.

Upon their arrival, a massive search operation was conducted by a combined team of Special Commando, Manipur Rifles, IRB, Assam Rifles, and BSF in Moreh Market Colony. During the operation, 44 people were detained, with 32 of them identified as Myanmarese. They have been handed over to Moreh police station for interrogation to determine if they are connected to the killing of SDPO Ch Anand.

Search operations continue to locate the perpetrators of recent violence in the border town.
