Manipuri Diaspora Bengaluru Sports Meet 2025 Kicks Off

Ukhrul, August 1: The 3rd Sports Meet 2025 of the Manipuri Diaspora Bengaluru (MDB) kicked off at the Post Office Ground, Koramangala on Friday under the theme “Come, Cheer, Compete and Connect’, bringing together sports enthusiasts, families, and supporters of the Manipuri community in the city.

The event is a celebration of sportsmanship, community bonding, and cultural pride. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Deeoak Thimmappa, Entrepreneur and Film Producer, Rajesh AM, Joint Resident Commissioner & Liaison Officer, Manipur, the MDB said in a statement.

Both guests lauded MDB’s efforts in fostering unity sports and appreciated the role of the diaspora in promoting healthy lifestyles, teamwork, and cultural solidarity in a metropolitan context, it stated.

The main sporting events of the 3rd MDB Sports Meet 2025 include football, volleyball and basketball. The sports meet will continue over the weekend, concluding with final matches, awards and cultural performances to further strengthen bonds among Manipuris living in Bengaluru, according to the MDB.

It further stated that a special mention was made of the former MDB president Yambem Arun Meetei, who attended as an honoured guest invitee and took active role in documenting the opening ceremony and first-day events, capturing vibrant moments and interactions on and off the field, the MDB added.
