Students from Manipur Flee Border States Amid India-Pak Tensions, Seek Shelter in Delhi

Imphal, May 10: Amid escalating India-Pakistan tensions, students from Manipur studying in border states like Jammu & Kashmir, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, and Chandigarh have taken refuge at the RPI Athawale office in Safdarjung, Delhi.

In a video statement, RPI(A) Manipur State Delhi Youth Wing President Borish revealed that, under the initiative of RPI(A) National Secretary Maheshwar Thounaojam, a dedicated helpline was launched. So far, around 50 students have sought assistance — with male students sheltering at the party office and female students accommodated in PG lodgings.

Efforts are ongoing to support others still en route to Delhi.

It is worth noting that the Airports Authority of India (AAI), in coordination with relevant aviation authorities, has announced a temporary suspension of civil flight operations at 32 airports across northern and western India. The suspension, effective from May 9 to May 14, 2025, has been implemented for operational reasons, as detailed in a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs).

Adhampur, Ambala, Amritsar, Awantipur, Bathinda, Bhuj, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hindon, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, Kandla, Kangra (Gaggal), Keshod, Kishangarh, Kullu Manali (Bhuntar), Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Naliya, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Rajkot (Hirasar), Sarsawa, Shimla, Srinagar, Thoise, and Uttarlai.
