Manipuri veteran actor, Kangabam Tomba attending Cannes Film Festival 2023

Imphal: Manipur’s eminent veteran actor, Kangabam Tomba is attending the Cannes Film Festival 2023 which begins today.

The 76th edition of Cannes Film Festival, 2023 is being held from May 16-27 in France.

The acclaimed Manipuri actor Kangabam Tomba’s restored film Ishanau will be screened in Cannes Classic Section this year.

The Indian delegation at the Cannes is led by Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr L Murugan. He is accompanied by Actor Kangabam Tomba, filmmaker Guneet Monga of The Elephant Whisperers fame Guneet Monga, Miss World 2017 Manushi Chillar and Actor Esha Gupta.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur is virtually joining the festival and will address the inaugural function.

The Cannes Film Festival opens with the premiere of Johnny Depp’s period drama ‘Jeanne du Barry’. Depp plays the role of King Louis XV of France in the film.

Meanwhile, model and actress Andrea Kevichüsa and prominent filmmaker Kivini Shohe will represent Nagaland State as part of the larger delegation from the film fraternity of Northeast at the Cannes Film Festival in its efforts to promote and support the development of Northeast film sector.
