Ukhrul: In a significant achievement and a moment of pride for the sports power-house state of Manipur, Solimla Jajo was adjudged silver medal in a glittering and highly competitive world bodybuilding and physique sports championships 2022 held on Friday at Phuket, kingdom of Thailand.
The young Tangkhul body builder from Kamjong district once again scripted history and brought laurels to the country and state by winning silver medal at the ongoing world event.
The 13th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship 2022 (WBPC) at Central Phuket which began on December 6 will continue till the 12th.
The reigning Miss Manipur Model Physique 2022, Solimla Jajo, 17, competed under the category of Women’s Junior Model Physique not over 21 years.

In all, a total of 44 countries are competing in different categories at the world event.
A student of Royal Gymnasium, Ukhrul, Solimla who hails from Kasom khullen under Phungyar block in Kamjong district is also the brand ambassador of Ukhrul Football Club and Animal Booster Nutrition (food supplements). At present, she is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts from Pettigrew College, Ukhrul district.
Trained and mentored by Robert L Meitei, owner of Royal Gymnasium Ukhrul, this is the second appearance for Solimla Jajo at the international event.
Sharing the latest developments to the Ukhrul Times on Saturday, a beaming Jajo confided that achieving silver medal in the world competitions is indeed a matter of great joy and meant so much to me.
She also thanked one and for their love, support and prayers.

Robert Meitie, Solimla’s coach and trainer of Royal Gymnasium, Ukhrul, said, “My happiness knew no bounds for the incredible feats my student had achieved in the world event by winning the silver medal.”
I am indeed pleased and happy to be with my brethren brothers and sisters of Manipur’s Tangkhul community for the faith that they all have repose in my work. As i watch the award ceremony of Solimla Jajo, I have no words to express. The medal that she brought for the country, state and community put away all the hardships we endured during her preparations, Robert expressed.
He also expressed his gratitude to Minister Khashim Vashum, MLA Ram Muivah, MLA Leishiyo, Rang Peter, DC Kamjong, Krishna Kumar, DC Ukhrul, CSOs, student bodies and well-wishers of Ukhrul for their support.
It will be a big impact and honour, if Solimla is given a suitable job based on her qualification and medal, Robert shared.
I am indeed proud to announced that in the field of Bodybuilding among the hill districts of Manipur, Ukhrul is in the top list.

Recently, Solimla was also adjudged “Miss Manipur” model physique 2022 title in an event held at BOAT, Imphal.

In the just concluded 11th edition of Eastern India Bodybuilding championship held in Kolkata from 12-14 November, 2022, she secured 5th position in women’s model physique in open category.
Earlier, the young woman athlete also wins silver medal in the 54th Asian Body Building and Physique Sports Championship 2022 held at Maldives.
In the 60th Mr. Manipur Championships 2022 organised by All Manipur Body Builders Association (AMBBA), four athletes of Royal Gymnasium, Ukhrul who participated in the competition bagged medals. They were Solimla Jajo, Yuvraj Sobar, KT. Themreiyo and Suratlunminthang Touthang of Moreh.
Yuvraj Sonar won gold in the 60 kg and was also adjudged “best poster” of Manipur for the year 2022, while Themreiyo and Suratlunminthang bagged bronze medal in 55 kg and junior over 75 kg respectively.
