New Delhi, November 3: The Mao Naga community in Delhi came together in a grand celebration of culture, identity, and fellowship during the Annual Get-Together cum 53rd Freshers’ Meet, held on November 1, 2025, at the Mavlankar Auditorium, Constitution Club of India. Organized by the Mao Students’ Union, Delhi (MSUD) and Mao Welfare Association Delhi (MWAD) the annual event brought together over 1,200 attendees, including students, professionals, elders, and well-wishers.
The Annual Get-Together began with an invocation and welcome address, setting the tone for a day filled with vibrant cultural performances, speeches, and recognitions that highlighted the community’s enduring spirit of unity and pride.

Pabitra Margherita, Hon’ble Minister of State in the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Textiles, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of connecting the Northeast with the rest of India, commending the Mao community for its strong cultural values and contributions. Wearing a traditional Naga waistcoat to symbolize solidarity, the Minister encouraged the youth to work collectively for a united Manipur.
The gathering also witnessed the presence of distinguished guests, including Pradeep Kumar Jha, IAS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing & Urban Development; Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam, IPS (Retd.), MLA and former Education Minister, Manipur; as Guest of Honour, S.P. Peter Khrasi, IRS (Retd.), former Chairman, Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes; and Akha Kaihrii Mao, Associate Professor & Deputy Dean, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, Delhi.
Special invitees such as D. Soziio Mao, President, Naga Students’ Union Delhi; Shiv Sharma, Deputy Director General, Sports Authority of India; Sanjay Aditya Singh, CEO & MD, Jett Wings Airways; Lalit Gattani, CEO, Showcraft Global; Navin Giri, CEO & MD, DS Infra Pvt. Ltd.; and Vaibhav Ramesh Bekardar, MD, Nestseekers Property Management & Sonoclinic Healthcare Services, also graced the Annual Get-Together, along with representatives from SPUNER, NSUD, and other tribal and student organizations.

Cultural highlights of the annual celebration included performances by the Asojio Ememei Choir, traditional Mao dances and folk songs, and exhibitions of art, crafts, and paintings that showcased the community’s creativity.
Adding to the festive spirit, a fashion segment curated by designer Paziini Kashae, a fashion design student, featured both traditional and modern works. Makeup artistry was handled by Ashihrii Hriiyini, a professional at the Oberoi Hotel, Gurgaon. The showstopper, Eloziia Krichena, Former Miss Barak 2018 and Sub-Inspector with the Delhi Police, captivated the audience with her elegance and grace.

The day concluded with a closing prayer, marking the end of a memorable Annual Get-Together filled with laughter, learning, and togetherness. Upholding its motto of “Unity, Strength, and Victory,” the Mao Students’ Union, Delhi, reaffirmed its commitment to fostering cultural pride and community unity among the Mao diaspora in the capital.
