Moreh: The Manipur government has extended restrictions imposed on the cross border movement at Indo-Myanmar border at Moreh sector further for one week more in view of rising COVID-19 cases in Tamu town bordering Moreh of Manipur.

An order issued by the Tengnoupal district magistrate today restricted the movement of any person from Tamu of Myanmar to Moreh.

The order stated that there was news that Omicron cases were detected in Tamu town which can be a hotspot for COVID-19.

There is danger of the new variant being spread from Tamu and some other villages from Myanmar to Moreh if entry is not restricted, the order observed.

In view of the rising cases of COVID-19 in the neighboring country, the Manipur government, in an order issued on January 1 last, suspended the free movement regime in the international border till January 31.
