IMPHAL, NOV 12 (DIPR): Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways Ajay Tamta held a press briefing in Imphal on Wednesday, highlighting major road projects aimed at strengthening connectivity across Manipur.
The ministry is working on 11 National Highways covering 1,774 km through NHIDCL and the State PWD. Of this, 747 km have been upgraded and blacktopped, with the remaining 332 km targeted for completion by 2026–27. Fifty-one project packages worth ₹12,000 crore are currently underway.
Delays in 35 packages were attributed to land acquisition and forest clearance issues, which are now being addressed. Key corridors — Imphal–Jiribam (NH-37), Yaingangpokpi–Finch Corner (NH-202), Tamenglong–Mahur (NH-137), Churachandpur–Tuivai (NH-102B), and Maram–Peren (NH-129A) — are slated for completion by 2025–26.

Connectivity with Nagaland is being upgraded along Ukhrul–Jessami, Mao Gate–Imphal, and Maram–Peren routes. The DPR for the Imphal–Moirang four-laning project is nearing completion. The Imphal–Jiribam Highway (NH-37) will be fully upgraded by 2025–26, with 152 km already blacktopped.
Earlier, Tamta visited Pherzawl district to review development projects and held a meeting with district officials on PMGSY, PM-FME, and other ongoing schemes.
