MP Supongmeren Jamir implores Government of India to implement signed Naga Agreements

Ukhrul, November 19: Nagaland Member of Parliament and Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee President S Supongmeren Jamir has called upon the Government of India to respect and implement the Framework Agreement signed on August 3, 2015 and Agreed Position signed on November 17, 2017 with the NSCN-IM and NNPGs respectively.

While acknowledging the courage and wisdom of successive central governments for inking the historic accords, he opined that the arduous journey is far from over and that it will only be in full circle when the government honors the sanctity of the agreements by implementing them without further delay.

Stressing further, he cautions that delayed implementation risks undermining the trust and hope built over decades of negotiations.

The lone Nagaland MP also called on the Naga populace to stand in truth and to walk the extra mile so that the hard-fought agreements come to fruition and are not jeopardized. He also lauded the past and present Naga National workers for the untold sacrifices made for the Naga struggle which continue to inspire generations even today.

It is worth noting that Supongmeren Jamir, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) was recently appointed to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology for 2024-25.
