Moreh: An intense firing has erupted between Myanmar’s Military Junta and rebel groups at Walphabung village in Namphalong, Tamu District. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday around noon, sparked panic and prompted over a hundred Myanmar nationals, including women and children, to seek refuge in Manipur’s border town of Moreh for safety.
According to reliable sources, the Walphabung villagers crossed the Indo-Myanmar border and entered villages near Border Pillars Number 79 and 80 in Moreh, located in Tengnoupal District, to escape the escalating firing.
The clash has raised concerns about the potential for further violence, especially with a large presence of Myanmar army personnel stationed in Walphabung village, which is predominantly inhabited by the Kuki community in Myanmar.
