Naga Club inducts Office Bearers, CM Rio assures 16.30 Cr for Naga Club Building

Ukhrul, Dec 31: The Naga Club, in its General Body Meeting at AKM, Kohima, on December 30th, inducted new office bearers for the tenure 2024-2027.

Owing to the unfinished work in its previous tenure, the Naga Club reappointed members mostly serving in the current tenure including President Kuolachalie Seyie. The office bearers inducted for the new tenure include President Kuolachalie Seyie and Vice Presidents  K. John Lohe, Y. Vandanshan Lotha,  Visa Meru, Talitoba Ao, and Dr. Hotokhu Chishi.

K. N. Mhonthung Lotha was appointed as the General Secretary while K. Gwanilo Himb and Raithu Newmai were appointed as Secretaries. It also appointed Hoshito Asumi as Treasurer and Seyiekuolie Kesiezie as the Finance Secretary.

The House appointed several members as advisors including Ariyi Nienu, Pheluopfhelie Kesiezie, Khyomo Lotha, Niketu Iralu, Dr. Vinito L. Chishi, and Mr. Kewezu Mero. It made Rev. Pastor Hotokhu P. Zhimomi (Sumi) the Chaplain and Lujeka Asumi as Associate Chaplain. Vizovotuo Nagi was also appointed the Property Secretary of the club.

Rev. H.P. Zhimomi, Chaplain of the Naga Club, bestowed God’s blessings upon the new office bearers, wishing them wisdom, strength, and guidance as they embark on their new roles.

The meeting also saw a keynote address from the President and a message from social activist and adviser to Naga Club, K. Niketu Iralu, read out by John Lohe, Vice President of Naga Club.

In his keynote address, President Kuolachalie Seyie paid tribute to the forefathers who founded the Naga Club in 1918 under the leadership of Rheichalie Pienyü. Briefing the club’s history and contribution to Naga’s struggle for sovereignty, the President called upon the present generation for a collective commitment to Naga’s integrity and sovereignty.

Speaking about the Naga Club building, the President informed the House that Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio had assured 16.30 crores for the building’s construction and that the construction would start by 2025.

Social activist and advisor to the club Niketu Iralu’s message talked about the Naga’s history and stressed the importance of keeping written records of events for historical purposes.
