Kohima: The Naga Hoho has expressed optimism regarding the upcoming Consultative Meeting on the Naga Political Issue, convened by the Political Branch of the Home Department, Government of Nagaland. The organization believes that the meeting will help bring the Indo-Naga political talks back to the forefront after having been sidelined for some time.
The Naga Hoho has urged all Naga tribal bodies and civil society organizations attending the meeting to ensure that any settlement reached is mutually agreed upon, inclusive, and honorable from the Naga people’s perspective.
The Naga Hoho also warned that any settlement failing to meet these standards could lead to further discord and conflict within the Naga family.
The Naga body also called on the need for unity among the Naga people and expressed concern over the prolonged nature of the Indo-Naga political talks, which have deepened divisions within the community. These divisions, according to the Naga Hoho, have widened generational, ideological, and regional gaps among the Naga people.

The statement also pointed out the need for the Nagas to present a united front to their political adversaries, warning that without unity, the Government of India may continue to maintain the current political status quo, leaving the Nagas in a state of political limbo.
The Naga Hoho stressed that responsibility for resolving the political issue lies not only with the Government of India but also with the Nagas themselves.
