Senapati, April 7: The vanguard of Naga people – the United Naga Council (UNC), the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) and the Naga Women Union (NWU) – said today that they are devastated by the “barbaric act” of the Kukis, committing unwarranted attack to the Naga villagers of Konsakhul near Leimakhong Army Cantonment on April 5, 2025 at around 11.30 am resulting to severe injuries and destruction of properties belonging to Liangmai Naga of Konsakhul village.
The three Naga organisations, in a joint statement made available to Newmai News Network late Monday, said, “It was reported that hundreds of assailants from Leilon Kukis unleashed a premeditated attack upon the peaceful Liangmai Naga villagers, taking the law into their hands and leaving 13 persons severely wounded, including Aimson Abonmai, Chief of Konsakhul, Adam Dirinamai, Village Chairman and Wilingson Abonmai, Pastor, Konsaram Baptist Church”. They also said that Aimson Abonmai and Adam are undergoing treatment at RIMS, Imphal. As per the Naga customary law, attacking and assaulting the chief/headman and village authority is indeed one of the highest forms of crime and aggression to the village and is a matter of great concern, the UNC, the ANSAM and the NWU stated in their joint statement.

The three bodies of the Nagas, in no uncertain terms, condemned “such heinous crime perpetrating upon the Nagas and we are shocked to learn such organized crime carried out by hundreds during the public curfew promulgated by the state authority, at the watch of security forces from both central and state”. The statement also stated, “It raises a serious question over the government authorities and the dubious bonhomie of central security forces and the Kukis”.
The three Naga organisations further said they also took strong exception to “hasty and outrageous statement of the so called world Kuki Zo Intellectual Council” in regard to the incident, resorting to justify the act of crime committed by their brethren towards the Nagas based on “unfounded claims and distorted document” instead of trying to contain the situation and solve the matter amicably. The Naga bodies said it only turned out like the crime was carried out clinically and corroborated by the Kuki-Zo at large to meet their selfish ends.

The UNC, the ANSAM and the NWU said that the Naga people also condemned the “treacherous and savagery action carried out by the Kuki volunteers from Valpabung village”, vandalizing and arsoning at Kazanga, village belonging Maram Naga tribe on April 3, 2025.
The joint statement added by saying, “Such an outrageous act is nothing less than land arrogation in the guise of dispute and is highly unacceptable. Moreover, the Naga people would not remain as a mute spectator unless sanity and good sense prevail”.
