Imphal, Feb 6: Former deputy chief minister of Manipur and NPP national vice president Y Joykumar has been chosen as the interim president of the Manipur unit of NPP.
In this regard, National People’s Party (NPP) National president Conrad K Sangma issued an order. The development comes after the demise of NPP Manipur unit president N Kaiyisii. The MLA passed away after a prolonged illness in January.

Y Joykumar appointed Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan as the working president of the state unit of NPP until further orders.
Meanwhile, NPP has appointed Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan as the leader of its legislative party in the Manipur assembly, as per a statement issued by Conrad K Sangma.

In November 2024, the NPP with seven MLAs in Manipur withdrew its support to the N Biren Singh government.
With the untimely demise of N Kayisii, the party now has only six MLAs in the 60-member Manipur assembly.
