Noney District Imposes Total Ban on Hunting Amur Falcons; Air Guns to Be Deposited by Nov 15

NONEY, NOV 10: The Additional District Magistrate of Noney District has imposed a total ban on hunting, catching, killing, or selling migratory birds, including the Amur Falcon (locally known as Akhuaipuina), under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

The order issued on November 10, 2025 bans the use of air guns during the migratory period and directs all owners to deposit their air guns with village authorities by November 15, 2025. The guns will remain in custody until the end of November or until the birds leave their roosting sites.

The directive covers villages such as Longmai, Raengkhung, Awangkhul, Taobam, Khongsang, Rengpang, Nungba, Kambiron, Khumji, Nagaching, Kabui-Khullen, Puichi, Bakwa, Haochong, and other nearby areas.

Anyone violating the order will face legal action under the Wildlife Protection Act.
