In a consultative meeting held under the theme Unified Response at Awang Sekmai Koujengleima, Imphal West, on Thursday, NPCM Convener Ashang Kasar stated that the government cannot claim to have restored peace in the state by transporting Kukis in military vehicles in Imphal.
Condemning the act, he stated, “Giving security escorts for the movement of Kukis in Imphal is a direct affront to the people.” He further pointed out that the Meiteis and Nagas cannot move freely in some parts of the state and that the Kukis should not be granted free movement till the demand of the native people, the abrogation of the Suspension of Operation, is granted, and a comprehensive agreement is reached.

Various civil society organisations from both the hills and the valley participated in the meeting. The speakers in the meeting emphasized the need for unity among the native Meitei and Naga communities. They also accused the Union government of supporting Kuki narco-terrorists who have been killing and terrorising indigenous people.
Additionally, the meeting reaffirmed the resolutions adopted at Makhan village, Kangpokpi District, on June 2, including the withdrawal of Assam Rifles from Manipur, the abrogation of the SoO agreement signed with the Kuki narco-terrorists, and updating the National Register of Citizens (NRC) before launching the census operation. They also reaffirmed to hold consultative meetings from time to time and take collective actions against the challenges posed to the indigenous people.
