In a press statement released today, the NPIP reported that a team led by its convenor, Mani Charanamei, a former Member of Parliament, along with Ukhrul MLA Ram Muivah and former MLA Preshow Shimray, visited the Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) office in Ukhrul to honor the deceased soldiers. During their meeting with TNL President Sword Vashum, his colleagues, and leaders of other Tangkhul organizations, the NPIP delegates expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and offered prayers.
The statement further noted the delegation’s serious concerns about the ongoing violence within the Naga community. “The NPIP strongly appeals to all national workers to exercise restraint and responsibility to prevent such tragic incidents in the future,” the statement said. It also called for peace and reconciliation in the broader interest of Naga unity.
