NPO appeals for free and fair conduct of Manipur 2022 polls

Senapati: The Naga People’s Organization (NPO), Senapati appeals to all the intending candidates, political parties, workers and general public of Senapati district for free, fair and smooth conduct of forthcoming elections.

Publicity Wing of the NPO stated that the onus of conducting free and fair election is paramount for all, in run up to every election, there are hiccups, commotions and conflicts but in a democratic society of a free election is one in which all eligible voters are able to exercise their votes for candidates of their choice, it’s a fundamental right and has to be respected.

Every right thinking individuals need to reflect the free expression of will of the people is respected, coercing and involvement of armed groups and anti social elements need to be kept at bay for the smooth conduct of election and to maintain a peaceful environment. Activities focussed on facilitating every citizen participation in a free and fair and inclusive electoral process is the need of the hour, it mentioned.

Morever, the recent incident has daunted the spirit of a free and fair election in which one, Losii Arow of Tobufii, President, 48-Mao AC Youth Wing has been intimated by armed miscreants on the night of February 18, 2022 is stated to seriously view and condemned the incident in the strongest term.

Suppressing freedom of speech and expression in a democratic society cannot be tolerated.

The Naga People’s Organization once again reaches out to all the sections of the society to avoid any form of violence for free, fair and smooth conduct of the 12th State Legislative Assembly elections in the district, it stated.
