Ukhrul, Feb 21: The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN/GPRN-K Ang-mai) has strongly warned the Government of India regarding its decision to construct border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar border and to scrap the Free Movement Regime (FMR).

In a press statement, the NSCN condemned the Ministry of Home Affairs‘ decision to construct the border fencing and demanded the revocation of the decision to scrap the FMR. The group also noted that the border demarcation between India (Naga) and Myanmar stems from arbitrary colonial decisions since the Treaty of Yandabo in 1826.

“The Nagas have always lived as one people, both East and West, sharing land, resources, and kinship across these imposed borders,” the NSCN stated.

The NSCN/GPRN-K Ang-mai Konyak Region then cautioned the Government of India to immediately withdraw the border fencing decision, warning that serious consequences could arise between the Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN/GPRN-K).
